A 17 pound large mouth bass was recently pulled from the Beltzville Lake

A new potential state record has been caught however not without any backlash. Recently Dansby Gregerson caught a bass that weighed in at 12 pounds even. However the bass wasn't weighed bass park officials and when asked to keep the fish until rangers arrived he let the fish go. The only evidence of the fishes size is the video evidence which does show a truly big fish. There is a strange thing about the bass in its stomach area. It looked to be a sag effect as if weights are sitting in the stomach.
It is possible he did catch a 12 pound fish as the fish shown was fairly large. However some experts say its body did not match what a 12 pound fish body would look like. Many people also say that Beltzville has had some big fish but with the arrival of wake boats, these fish have become disturbed.
This controversial situation comes as no surprise as recently fisherman have been using weights for tournament fish. However this wasn't during a tournament and rather just a normal fishing day. The odd circumstances however prevent a conclusive answer as we will most likely never know if his fish counts.
